He was very upset to think that everything and everyone he knew was gone and clung to the chance that the mission coule bring them back. He befriended the amnesiac pony-human Sunset Shimmer, feeling a sense of commonality from what she could remember, and she was very good at reading him.

* Went to the Greening, where fae kidnapped random people to be their entertainment. Any relief at finding out the multiverse wasn't as gone as he thought was cancelled out by the horrors of how the fae used captives for entertainment. He escaped the worst of it and was starting to carve out a place that he and other captives could use as a refuge, but was also starting to enjoy terrorizing minor fae.

* Was taken next to Sidereal, an isolated city mysteriously empty of all animal life other than people from other universes. No mission, he finally had a break and got to make a bunch of friends. He also met people who knew of a Loki that had tried to invade Earth and realized that he was the outlier.

* Finally he was brought to Longest Night in the world of Rise of the Guardians by the power of belief of children to save all of reality. He was already an old hat at the kidnapping and while a little disappointed the vacation was over, he eagerly took up the mission and explained things to newbies. He also got confirmation that he was from a series of movies, which by this point wasn't as much of an existential crisis as it might have been earlier in his world-hopping adventures.

Personality:
* Mischievous and enjoys being trouble, but not so much that he becomes hated or unwanted. He's trying to aim for unpredictable fun while being a reliable ally in a crisis. He greatly values any trust that others place in him, and the more informed it is, the more afraid he is of failing to live up to that trust.

* Huge identity issues all over the place. He has fully rejected being a prince of Asgard and son of Odin and only sticks around because of promises he made to Frigga and Thor. He has memories of a timeline where Odin returned him to Laufey and he was fostered at Asgard to serve at his future king's side and is disturbed by how happy that version of him was while, from the outside, he could see all the cracks. He knows on an intellectual level that being a Frost Giant doesn't make him a monster, but he's still proccessing that while also knowing that other Frost Giants will reject him for his crimes against them. He has no true home anymore, but keeps seeking out places that are comfortable enough.

* He has a lot of dread about what might be coming in his future. He's learned of the myths of Ragnarok and is so horrified by them that he's vowed to never have children, in case they become monsters. In his home universe he spent most of his time preparing for when Thanos makes a move, and with extra-universe information, he wants to make sure that his timeline's fight goes better than it's "meant to". He's strongly adopted a "screw fate" mindset, but has his doubts whether it's possible, which also turns into self-doubt.

* He's had a lot of the arrogance knocked out of him, but not all of it, and he performatively puffs up his god status. But he's also very eager to back up his boasting with impressive feats and doesn't expect worship just because one culture on Earth once thought of him as a god. He'd rather earn their sense of awe by showing off the amazing things he can do.

Powers:
* Asgardian and/or Jotun physiology: Loki is much stronger and tougher than humans, to the point of near-invulnerability. Thanks to his Jotun heritage, he also has an extreme tolerance to cold.

* Magic: Loki has magic. What can it do? Anything magic can! He specializes in creating illusions, but he also created a small personal pocket universe for storage, and he's come up with spells for other effects with some effort; he's been working on a personal flying spell, for instance. He can also use his magic as bolts in combat.

* Ice powers: As a Jotun, Loki can create and breathe ice. But as he lived most of his life as an Asgardian, ignorant of his true heritage and fearing those powers, he has no idea how to use them unless he's got a powerful Jotun artifact in his hands to help.

Dependents:
Nothing living, just a personal pocket universe full of various souvenirs

Sample:
TDM
with a canonmate

comments

While never anyone's favorite (except maybe his mother), he spent centuries fighting alongside his older brother Thor and his friends, defending the Nine Realms from all kinds of foes. He considered himself the smartest of the group and responsible for keeping the others safe, even if it meant using the underhanded tactics and magic that Asgard scorned.

Except that wasn't true, and on the day of Thor's ascension to the throne, his attempt to demonstrate that his brother was not ready resulted in a series of events that left Thor banished, Odin unconscious, and him finding out the truth: He was a Frost Giant, the son of the hated King Laufey, who Odin found abandoned in his last assault on Jotunheim and adopted as his own. Granted the throne in the absence of his father and brother, Loki tried to prove that he was a true Asgardian at heart by finally destroying the Frost Giants once and for all. Unfortunately for him, his attempts to keep Thor from interfering led to Thor proving himself worthy, returning to Asgard, and stopping him. When Odin rejected his pleas that he did what he did for his father, he allowed himself to fall into the Void, intending to die.

But he didn't die, and he was soon found by Thanos, a brutal warlord with universe-wide ambitions. Over the course of a year, he broke Loki through torture and threats, until he offered Loki a way to end it: Loki would do a favor for Thanos, retrieving an Infinity Stone from Earth, and once that was one, he would be free to rule Earth as he saw fit. Loki accepted the offer and Thanos's loaned army and Mind Stone and set out to conquer Earth to soothe his wounded pride and hurt his brother.

Except... he made a different choice. He wanted to hurt others, but the one he wanted to harm most was Thanos. He had no way to do so on his own, but if he used the humans of Earth, he could perhaps rob Thanos of both Infinity Stones he craved as well as the loaned army. He would hurt his brother's pride by saving Thor's beloved humans from a threat Thor didn't even know of, and maybe even earn himself a pardon from Asgard.

He hedged his bets, stealing the Tesseract from SHIELD before making his offer of alliance, with the threat of following Thanos's plan if the humans refused. Despite his attitude and constant pushing of their boundaries, they upheld their end of the agreement, and he released the Chitauri army at an uninhabited location they could defend, after giving them warning of when the enemy would arrive.

The defenders of Earth, the Avengers, surprised him by defeating the army without suffering any casualties. Even more surprising personally was Thor's immediate gratitude once the plan was executed. However, when they returned to Asgard with the Infinity Stones, a new problem arose in Loki's mind. Though he tossed the Mind Stone into the Void, Asgard would keep the Tesseract, making it a target for Thanos. He, as a traitor, would be another target. Thanos might be deterred by Asgard's might if it only contained one item he desired, but two...

Odin was not in a forgiving mood, ignoring Thor's arguments on his brother's behalf. When Odin suggested disowning and exiling Loki, he readily accepted it. In private to Thor and their mother Frigga, he expressed his concerns about Thanos's retaliation. He assured them that even if he had no formal standing in Asgard anymore, he would still protect Asgard in his exile, by traveling and keeping an ear to the ground for any threats, giving them news of any that he could find, while also working on his own to foil them.

Since then Loki has been a nomad, rarely staying in one place for long. He deliberately cultivates a reputation of an enemy of Asgard to attract other enemies, but he has never considered betraying his old home. He also made promises to Earth and the Avengers, to aid them against Thanos, and he intends to uphold those. He visits Earth when he wants to rest in a relatively familiar and friendly setting, to Thor's delight and varying levels of tolerance from the other Avengers.

SUITABILITY

The game has a sci fi/horror setting, with lots of potentially intense survival horror. While there will be plots that are more sci fi than horror, and plots on missions that are neither sci fi or horror, allowing for respites from traumatizing things, characters need to be able to handle the stress of the setting.

Keep in mind that if a character is not suited to a stressful horror and action setting, or if a character is aged 12-15, you will have to work extra hard to justify how they can function in the game as an equal (or learn how to quickly). Please answer all of the following.

⌲ How do you expect your character to respond to the stress, unfamiliarity, and horror of the setting?

He's accustomed to violence and some forms of horror, but not having magic will be a psychological blow. He'll put on an air of being in control but will be hiding how unbalanced he is.

⌲ What do you hope to do with your character long-term?

Have him learn to deal with not having the powers of a god that he can hold over others, hopefully leading to him learning to respect others and learn from them.

⌲ If you're giving your character NERFs, how will they deal with the implants?

None yet; he might pick up some after questioning Ishtar about the strings attached.

⌲ Does your character currently have the mentality and skills that would allow them to adapt and survive? If your character doesn't, do you think they'd have the capacity to learn quickly?

He certainly thinks he does, but he has more mental fragility than he'll admit. Still, it'll take him some time to actually break

⌲If they're not used to cooperating with others, will they be able to adapt to cooperating with the group?

His views on cooperation are complicated. He's used to tricking people into doing what he wants, even allies, thinking of himself as the only competent one, but he's started doing more honest cooperation and realizing that it works out for everyone better than he expected.

<strike>Ragnarok</strike> Sakaar Adventure!

* Starts out with Loki on Sakaar getting wined and dined by the Grandmaster, who is also looking forward to showing off his current champion gladiator to his royal divine guest. Loki's enjoying the attention and flattery, but not getting too excited and not committing to staying indefinitely like the Grandmaster wants. The champion enters the arena and it's the Hulk. GM brags that nobody's probably never seen his like; Loki calculates quickly and admits that he has, but only on a backwater realm and is impressed that GM acquired what is likely the only one of his kind and is keeping him contained.

* A day later, on Earth, Thor gets a message from Loki, telling him of a time and place to meet with no explanation. He tells Jane and co. that he really needs to look into it, he's sure Loki wouldn't call for him without a good reason and sets off. Since the meeting place is in unfamiliar and lawless space, he has to charter transportation, and on the last leg his guides turn out to be slavers and capture him. He doesn't fight back, unsure if it's part of Loki's meetup plan.

* At the meeting place, Loki's waiting, Thor is late. Fearing that something happened to Thor, he guesses at the route Thor would've taken and before too long finds Mjolnir abandoned. His suspicions are basically confirmed when GM contacts him, openly gleeful and saying he has a special gift for Loki. Sure enough, when Loki gets back to Sakaar, GM shows off his newest purchase, Thor, woken up n the middle of processing and very confused. He asks Loki what's going on, and Loki puts on an evil gloating act, telling Thor that he tricked him into becoming a slave for the rest of his likely short life as revenge. Thor goes quiet and ignores Loki, only asking terse questions of his captors, and the GM's enjoying facilitating this family drama.

* Thor's sent to the arena and welcomed by Valkyrie, master and trainer of the gladiators. She gives him what's clearly a canned speech about how he can earn prestige, freedom, and privilege if he has the will, and she's a living example of it, as she was once just like him and is now second only to the Grandmaster. She's very clearly unhappy and doesn't believe a word she's saying, and she's extra mocking to Thor without saying why.

* After Thor's settled in to his cell and left alone, Loki carefully projects an illusion into it to talk to him, unsure if Thor will trust him or not. Thor is mad at him, but for not explaining why he was called out there or warning about the danger. Loki retorts that Thor should've been more cautious. Before the fight gets heated Thor cuts it off, says it's not getting them anywhere and accepts fault so Loki can get to explaining the real reason he wanted Thor there. Loki shows him a recreation of the Hulk fight and Thor gets it immediately and says he did the right thing, that Thor definitely wants to rescue him. Loki says first they should rescue Thor himself, but Thor shoots that down and suggests that they could turn the setback into an advantage. The best gladiators all get housed together, so if Thor climbs the ranks, he can get much more access to Hulk than even Loki could. Loki agrees, impressed that Thor thought it up all on his own and is willing to be a slave for any amount of time. Thor does make sure that he can climb the ranks without killing his opponents, as well as confirm that Hulk's been killing, which is a problem they can tackle later. Loki also sabotages Thor's obedience disk so it will only cause a minor shock instead of debilitating pain, but Thor asks him to keep the instant sedation intact.

* The next day, Loki continues shmoozing with the GM and his inner circle and gathering info on the sly, playing up the evil brother looking forward to seeing Thor suffer act. Thor meanwhile gets to see what life is like among the slaves. Most are fairly new and are certain they're going to die and that would be better than "winning freedom". He's told not to trust the most veteran slaves, how long they live depends on the GM's favor, and the most reliable way to do that is to rat out other slaves. Thor's horrified, particularly when he realizes that GM's been running Sakaar this way for centuries.

* The next time the brothers confer, Thor says he can't just rescue Hulk and leave Sakaar in the state it is. Loki doesn't agree immediately, he thinks they should just rescue Hulk and leave, but Thor convinces him to try organizing a slave revolution, selling him on the idea of overthrowing a tyrant who has ruled longer than Loki has been alive. He identifies the problem that most slaves don't live long enough to get organized on their own and are incentivized to turn on each other, and the ones most likely to never break are killed soonest. If the slaves can organize secretly with help from a free patron while taking care to weed out traitors, they might stand a chance. Loki also disables the obedience disks the same as Thor's, which gives them the slaves more hope.

* The plan goes into motion over the next few weeks. Thor keeps fighting his way up the ranks in the arena, acting like it's a fun diversion until he inevitably escapes and crushes his captors. He openly rebuffs anyone who approaches him with offers to help, saying he's a god and doesn't need any help. He then passes along their names to Loki, who secretly profiles them and, if he thinks they're trustworthy, approaches them as "the recruiter" and introduces them to the secret resistance. They're all informed that Thor's arrogance is an act, meant to keep GM's attention on himself so the real resistance is overlooked, and he refuses to work with any other slaves so if GM ever decides to punish or interrogate him he can't give anyone else up. Soon the slaves are suggesting recruits of their own and the group grows, though no clear leader emerges.

* Valkyrie, meanwhile, becomes openly hostile towards the brothers individually. She insults Loki for selling his brother out for his own comfort and working to keep Thor enslaved whenever they're thrown together, which is fairly often, as GM likes pushing him on her (and watching her rip into him). Once, when Thor confronts her about how she's abandoned her duties and sense of honor if she really is a valkyrie, she laughs in his face and tells him he should hope he doesn't live long enough to become like her. That gets him intrigued enough to look into her past, which GM is more than happy to tell to Loki when he asks. GM bought her ages ago, the mythical last valkyrie, and kept her as a gladiator until she won her freedom in the arena. He then gave her her current job. He knows she hates it but won't kill herself, and he enjoys seeing "his valkyrie" drink herself into oblivion. After finding that out, the brothers mostly give her her space.

* After the initial successes, the resistance hits an impasse. They still have no leader to rally them. Thor is too closely watched to get involved with the real plans, and they all hate Loki for being GM's favorite and selling Thor out to GM. The hate is so intense that the brothers think if Loki revealed that he was "the recruiter", the resistance would assume it was all a setup from the start and fall apart. Thor has also run into a problem with reaching Hulk. He gets a one-on-one fight with the champion, but Hulk doesn't recognize him at first and responds to his attempts to talk to Bruce with anger. Thor comes close to winning, but GM uses the obedience disk to knock him out, though he keeps Hulk from killing Thor. Conversations in the top gladiator quarters don't go any better, as Hulk accuses Thor of wanting to get rid of him.

* Eventually Valkyrie gets so disgusted at Loki that she captures him, intending to hand him over to Thor to kill so he won't be tormented by his brother anymore. Loki protests that she has everything wrong and they're working together, but she doesn't believe him. She summons Thor to her quarters and starts to explain why she was giving him Loki, getting fairly far before Thor can cut in and correct her. She's shocked that they actually are working together and that they haven't been discovered by the GM yet. The brothers realize that she might be the answer to both of their problems; she's a natural leader, and the slaves respect her for once being in their position and not trying to sell them a lie, and she's friends with the Hulk and he might listen to her where he blows off Thor. They explain about the resistance and ask her if she's willing to lead and ask for her help with Hulk, explaining about Bruce, which she had no clue about.

* Valkyrie tells them her side of the story; she was indeed one of the valkyries, not senior or junior, and survived the massacre that supposedly wiped them all out. The brothers know Asgard's official story, that Malekith's first rebellion against Asgardian rule culminated in the massacre of the valkyries and Odin blasted Svartalfheim in retaliation and issued the kill-on-sight order for Dark Elves. She reveals that the rebellion wasn't violent until the Asgardian governor called for help dealing with the protesting Dark Elves and Odin sent the valkyries to restore the peace, and they immediately started breaking heads. Malekith used the violence as an excuse to respond with overwhelming force and killed the valkyries in a single terror attack, with only Valkyrie/Brunnhilde herself surviving and being taken prisoner. Malekith told her he tried to ransom her back to Asgard but Odin refused to deal with him at all, so he sold her into slavery and she ended up on Sakaar. The GM was very pleased to own an Asgardian warrior as a gladiator and made her use the moniker Valkyrie in the arena. At first she was defiant, stating that she would crush them all on her own, then that Odin would come and end Sakaar's tyranny. As time went on, she got worn down, and settled on the goal of winning her freedom by fighting in the arena. She eventually succeeded, though doing things she regretted on the way. But "freedom" turned out to be a job offer as part of the GM's ruler class, and if she turned it down, he wouldn't guarantee her safety from the slavers, and he just offered a very high bounty for a female Asgardian warrior. Defeated, she accepted the job as trainer. He knew that what was left of her pride wouldn't let her kill herself directly, and he ensured she was only around slaves that could be instantly controlled so she couldn't let one of them kill her. As one final insult, he wouldn't even let her reclaim her name as Brunnhilde, requiring that everyone call her Valkyrie as a reminder of how the title she was once proud of had become a reminder of slavery. Trapped, she fell into despair. Loki's arrival was an unwelcome change of pace, as GM kept trying to get them together, wanting to have a pair of the Last Valkyrie and the Exiled Prince of Asgard under his influence. Thor was even worse, as his attitude reminded her of how she was when she was first enslaved. But now, instead of reopening old wounds, they've reawakened hope in her, and she accepts the position as leader of the slave resistance.

* With everything falling into place in the resistance, they start making plans for the actual revolution, as well as rescuing the Hulk. Brunnhilde is still uncertain, but she pleads with the Hulk for Thor, telling him how Bruce's friends are afraid that he's becoming lost in the Hulk and just want to bring him back out, but they don't want to force the Hulk into disappearing forever either. She gets through to him and he transforms back into Bruce, who is very disoriented after being repressed for years. They get him up to speed on his situation and Thor offers to see that he's returned to Earth immediately, but as that would mean Loki's extended absence and could raise GM's suspicions, he declines. Loki hides him as his new slave, with Loki's high favor with the GM ensuring that nobody will cause trouble for Bruce, and Loki himself gives him his space on Thor's insistence.

* The champion's sudden disappearance predictably enrages the GM and he demands that the Hulk is found, leading to increased scrutiny of the gladiators. The resistance decides that it's time for Thor to disappear to distract the GM away from them while they get ready for the actual attack. The plan is to use Loki's "recapture" of Thor to draw the GM away from his guards, with the actual "execution" being the signal to attack the enforcers and start securing their position. Thor, Loki, and the Hulk will deal with the GM.

* Everyone's tense as the time comes. The resistance are hoping the GM hasn't caught on and that Loki isn't planning on betraying them, but Brunnhilde reminds them that at this point they don't have a choice. Loki announces that he has captured Thor attempting to sabotage the main control room and calls on the GM to dispatch him immediately.

* GM arrives in the control room, Thor kneeling at Loki's feet with a pair of guards standing watch. He taunts Thor a bit before using the melt stick, and immediately sounds of fighting break out from the rest of the city. GM assumes it's an unorganized revolt after seeing the most rebellious slave killed and orders his guards to suppress it, but something is off. Loki doesn't move or offer to help and the control room guards seem to be waiting for something. GM checks on what's left of Thor and it disappears, an illusion. Mjolnir flies through a wall and one of the guards catches it, the illusion disappearing and revealing himself as Thor. The GM is shocked and asks Loki why he betrayed him after all of the GM's courting, and Loki says that he couldn't let anyone get away with enslaving a god. The GM runs, the remaining guard not doing anything and the brothers unable to stop him from escaping to a personal craft. Loki turns on the guard, dropping the illusion and revealing him as Bruce, asking what happened to Hulking out. Thor stops him and says that if Bruce didn't transform there's probably a bigger problem going on. Loki and Bruce will keep the control room secure while Thor chases the GM.

* The fight is mostly going well for the rebellion, but the guards have air superiority. Thor breaks off his pursuit of the GM to take out aircraft and towers keeping the rebels pinned down. Brunnhilde orders that any of the rulers who surrender are to be taken prisoner, but that the rebels should kill if they don't surrender or if they use surrender as a trap. Most try to flee and several succeed before cut off from the spacecraft, but the rebels gain control of Sakaar. Brunnhilde has to step in to keep the rebels from slaughtering the prisoners before declaring victory and giving a speech explaining to the non-rebel slaves what happened and what the rebellion will do now that they're free.

* Thor, Loki, Bruce, and Brunnhilde leave mopping up to the resistance forces and chase after the GM, but by then he's too far ahead and they have to give up. Thor will go back to Earth with Bruce and make sure he gets there safely and has a place to recover and figure out why the Hulk didn't emerge to attack the person who enslaved him, as Bruce thinks there's some shame going on for indirectly hurting Bruce. Brunnhilde will return to Sakaar as she has no desire to go back to Asgard while Odin is still king and Sakaar will need strong leadership to keep another warlord from rolling in and re-enslaving it. Loki will go back to traveling the universe and keeping his ear to the ground for Thanos and the infinity stones and now the GM, though he does regret that he can't stay for the victory celebrations and getting properly honored as a liberator. Brunnhilde still doesn't like him, but she does appreciate that he's staying away from Sakaar so it won't be a target for his enemies and informally promises that as long as he keeps watch for them, Sakaar will fight against Thanos when the time comes.

* Thor and Bruce return to Earth and are greeted by Jane, who is relieved by confused and thus irritated. Loki had sent her a message that Thor would be delayed, but in his usual way, he didn't elaborate on anything and reveled in letting her guess what it meant. Thor promises to give a full explanation and apologizes on making a request of her right away, namely letting Bruce stay with them while he recovers. She's mollified and agrees immediately, ready to help a fellow scientist and hero.

comments

Summary of auroraexpress time

* Loki was wary on arrival, not appreciating being grabbed from his own world and deposited somewhere strange. He accepted the explanation that everything was gone and he was needed to help restore it with reservations, further reassured after meeting the Star Prince and deciding that he probably wasn't lying, though he might not be as knowledgeable about the situation as he thought he was. He appreciated Cardamom's upfrontness about his shortcomings and the danger and how he would allow anyone to leave, even though it would probably end in their death. He wanted to test whether leaving the train was a death sentence, but not himself.

* He came to respect Solar Flare fairly quickly, because they saw eye-to-eye on a lot of matters, including suspicion over the circumstances and wanting to verify info for themselves. While he was initially skeptical about Harmony Magic and healing and fixing things with the power of friendship and positive feelings, he saw enough effects of it to start to believe it was worthwhile and try it himself, and he especially wanted to find out more from Solar. Solar saw several of his most painful memories by accident and handled it with grace, which further endeared her to him. But when he saw memories of hers that resonated with her in a way that hurt him, he hesitated to open up further, which he later regretted.

* He put on a veneer of being aloof, but after sitting out the first trial and seeing his teammates traumatized by it, he resolved to join and win every trial he could, both out of a sense of competition and not wanting to let his team down when he could help. Even after a trial that annoyed him he still didn't hesitate to participate. He immediately volunteered for a demonized Solar's trial, despite suspecting that it would be painful, and he refused to give up and take the easy way out when sticking with his partner would hurt them most, hoping that by going through the pain as a pair he could help cure Solar. He was upset when it seemed to have no effect, though he hid it and just kept chipping away at the issue and trying to figure out how to bring her back.

* He became pretty protective of Klarion, the first new teammate to join after him, because the boy was naive and malleable and easily impressed. He tried to comfort Klarion when they were dealing with Solar turning into a demon and hurting them, as Klarion was not well-equipped to deal with that sort of betrayal. He felt additional kinship and protectiveness over Klarion on seeing the first memory the boy regained, which involved Klarion being almost lethally rejected by his family for challenging their worldview, as it reminded him of how Odin treated him after he returned to Asgard.

* Overall, Loki enjoyed his time at Aurora, despite the circumstances involving his entire universe being erased. He held out hope that the destruction could be reversed and that people he cared about might show up to help in the mission. The other residents of the train were amiable and liked him even with his affectations of superiority, something he wasn't used to. For the first time he felt like he could be himself and be liked for who he was.

comments

AU outline part 3/?

Other movies:

* I... don't have many real ideas. Age of Ultron would at least have to have different origins for the twins' powers, Ultron, and Vision, because no mind stone on Earth. I haven't watched any movies past AoU, so I don't even know for what happens in canon.

* Bruce does have a Hulk freak out of some sort and flees Earth

* Thor doesn't leave Earth to search for the other infinity stones or prepare for Ragnarok. For the former, he's leaving that to Loki, who has a good track record on finding them and getting them to active guardians; for the latter, he might not even have visions of Ragnarok, and if he does, they'd involve Loki destroying everything and Thor would deal with that by talking to his brother about it and them dismissing it as someone messing with his mind and not real premonitions.

* Loki's status quo is traveling the universe, keeping an ear to the ground for leads on the infinity stones whose locations he don't know, looking out for potential threats to Asgard or his family, and outwardly building up a reputation as a disreputable bastard only out for himself. He never states what he wants, but he encourages rumors that he's planning to gather the infinity stones for his own use and will use them to challenge Thanos, and possibly to conquer Asgard or any other realm he fancies. (He's not actually planning to do any such thing, but others thinking that's what he wants makes them more respectful and afraid of him, which is always good.)

* Thor's status quo is staying on Earth with Jane's crew in Puente Antiguo, doing small-scale heroisms locally, being on call for Avengers-level threats, and basically just enjoying being the wacky scientist's goofy space prince boyfriend. He does travel frequently, but considers Jane's place his current home, and invites his friends to visit him there when they want to see him.

Specific idea: Steve and Loki become Star Trek buds with Jane Foster as their mentor

* It starts when Loki crashes an Avengers gathering for the umpteenth time. Tony makes a crack that Loki's like a Q, but not as showy, and when Loki's clearly clueless he mocks Loki's ignorance. He namedrops Star Trek, certain that Loki won't think to look up the reference because it's beneath a god like him. Steve, who is also out of the loop because frozen, recognizes Star Trek as some of the things he's been recommended to look up, and he has a copy of every series and movie thanks to his list being leaked.

* Later at night Steve decides to dig out his Star Trek DVDs, only to find they're missing. He naturally suspects Loki and soon finds him in Thor's quarters, looking them over and frowning. Steve is annoyed by the theft, but he does get why Loki did it, and he offers to watch and figure out Tony's jokes together. They pick what seems to be the first episode that references Q in the title, which happens to be "Hide and Q", and it leaves them feeling cold.

* Jane is also visiting and she notices them, and once she realizes what they're watching she offers to give them both a crash course on Star Trek. Steve of course immediately takes her up on her offer, but Loki demurs until Jane points out that if he absorbs the culturally important parts of Star Trek he won't be caught off-guard by a joke at his expense again, and he could even maybe get one over on Tony. That gets Loki on board.

* Jane does start them off in release order, because she feels like that's the best way, and especially for Steve it shows how the culture of when they were made has changed. Loki mostly gives disparaging commentary, but that lessens as time goes on and he finds things that he can appreciate.

* After they've watched the essentials of all the series, Jane has a little discussion group about their preferences. Steve's favorite captain is Picard, to nobody's surprise, and Loki's is Sisko. His favorite character is Garak, as Jane also predicted, but a surprising other favorite is Worf. While he was originally annoyed at Worf, who seemed to be everything Loki found irksome about Asgardian warrior culture that he never fit in, once he realized that Worf was actually adopted by humans, who had considered Worf's people an enemy that couldn't be reasoned with all that long ago, he felt a sense of kinship. And he started to wonder how he might've turned out if Odin and Frigga had raised him like the Rozhenkos did with Worf, never hiding his heritage but rather encouraging him to embrace it.

comments
